SB20 National Championships Results

Massive congratulations to Bad-Kilcullen (Stefan Hyde, Jerry Dowling & Jimmy Dowling) crowned SB20 National Champions for 2016 which took place last weekend (5-7 August). Well done to Sin Bin (Michael O’Connor, Owen Laverty & Kevin Johnson) on coming 2nd overall and to Venuesworld.com (Ger Dempsey, Chris Nolan, Blair Stanaway & Graham Barker) on coming 3rd overall.

 

Phaedo 3 Breaks Round Ireland Record

Phaedo 3, with Ireland’s leading offshore sailor Damian Foxall on board, crossed the Kish lighthouse finish line at Dún Laoghaire, at 04.01.04am this morning (Friday, 5th August 2016), beating the previous world record by approximately 1 hours and 45 minutes. The time has still to be ratified by the World Speed Sailing Record Council.

Entering our final week of our junior summer courses…

Where has the summer gone?  We can’t believe how time has flown by as we get ready to enter our final week of the junior summer courses. Each course has been jam-packet with fun and excitement and plenty of new friendships made.   We would like to take this opportunity in thanking all our junior sailors we hope they had as good  a time as we did having them here, and looking forward to seeing all of them back her next year.

I would also like to thank each and everyone one of our wonderful team of instructors who have done such a great job.

 

Good Luck to Finn & Annalise in the Rio Olympics 2016

I would like to take this opportunity on behalf of all the NYC members to wish our Olympic sailors, Annalise Murphy and Finn Lynch the very best of luck and success at the Rio Olympics and we will be following their progress with great interest.

Good luck also to our International Race Officer, Con Murphy who will be officiating as Olympic Race Officer.

SB20 National Championships at the NYC

The National Yacht Club is delighted to host the SB20 Irish National Championships on Friday, Saturday and Sunday 5th, 6th and 7th August 2016.

MOD 70 Team Phaedo 3 Round Ireland Record Attempt

Following on the incredibly tight race between the 3 MOD 70s entered in the Wicklow SC Round Ireland where Oman Sail broke its own Round Ireland Record (as well as the other 2 boats), Team Phaedo 3 is back!

Taking their start today based on a favourable weather window (see here) allowing them to go round anti-clockwise, Team Phaedo 3 hopes to break the current record of 38 hours, 37 minutes and 7 seconds!
