Optimist Ulsters 2015 – Report

16 main fleet sailors and 1 regatta fleet sailor from the NYC together with their families travelled down to Ballyhome for the 2nd regional event of the year. Clare Gorman, Nicola Ferguson, Ella Hemeryck, Luke Rickard, Natasha Hemeryck, Jack Hall and Deirdre Turner competed in the Senior fleet. Conor Gorman, Fiona Ferguson, Hugh O’Connor, Leah Rickard, Eoghan Turner, Nathan Van Steenberge, Georgie McCarthy, Zoe Hall and David Corcoran raced in the Junior fleet. Billy McCarthy sailed in the regatta fleet.

Ruth overall winners of the D2D 2015!

Congratulations to all on-board NYC J109 ‘Ruth’ for their overall win in the 2015 Skellig Hotel Dun Laoghaire to Dingle Race.

‘Ruth’ narrowly missed the overall win of the 2014 Round Ireland Race by just over 6mns but, victory was not let go off their hands this time around!

Summer has arrived and so has Sunday Fun Sailing!!

Now that the days are getting warmer…. We are going to run our family Sunday afternoons of sailing.

The Sunday Fun Sailing will be starting on the 14th of June at 2pm (rigged and ready to sail).

It will be an opportunity for juniors to get out on the water for some sailing with other people, try out a friend’s boat or charter a club boat. Our new RS Ventures are ideal for family sailing. Read the full post for Terms & Conditions!

Junior Pre Race Optimist Training – Extra June dates

For Sailors who have completed Basic Skills and need to build confidence with a view to racing.  Instruction will take place at the same time as Friday Racing, 5.30pm to 7.30pm.

We are adding  2 more weeks of coaching – Friday 19th and 26th inclusive. The cost is €20. Read full post for online registration
