ISORA Celebrates 50 years anniversary

This year ISORA will be celebrating 50 years of Racing in the Irish Sea

Following the 2021 AGM on Saturday 4th December a new schedule of Races has been agreed and can be downloaded here

The web-site is now being updated with to reflect the 2022 Musto ISORA series of races, a balance of Offshore Races and Coastal Races.

The schedule includes a qualifyer for Round Ireland, the Kingstown to Queenstown race and Round Ireland Race.

There is also  Coastal Series in Ireland and also in the UK.

NYC Sunfast 3600s Enjoy Early Double-Handed Training Session on Dublin Bay

Wednesday morning saw some early 2022 season double-handed two boat tuning for a pair of Jeanneau Sunfast 3600 keelboats on Dublin Bay.

ISORA campaigners Searcher (Pete Smyth) and John O’Gorman’s Hot Cookie enjoyed 10-15 knots north-westerlies for a fast reach from Dun Laoghaire Harbour.

Searcher and Hot Cookie, both from the National Yacht Club, cut quite a dash crossing a deserted bay at speed under pink and red spinnakers.

The pair returned to the harbour after a two-hour session with Searcher sporting a ripped kite in conditions that had strengthened to over 20 knots in gusts.

Opti Orange Valencia Adventures for NYC sailors

A group of National Yacht Club Optimist sailors are planning to travel to Valencia, Spain this March to participate in the Opti Orange Valencia regatta. Valencia is one of the popular Clubs for warm weather sailing and this event marks the beginning of the Optimist sailing season for many sailors.

The Regatta is organised by St Petersburg Yacht Club and Real Club Náutico Valencia (RCNV) from March 3rd – 6th 2022. Competitors from all over Europe and around the World have registered for this event and it is a great opportunity for international teams to travel and compete on the water.

Junior Summer Courses Dates

The National Yacht Club Junior Committee is making preparations for Summer Courses 2022 for our junior sailors.Provisional dates:Course 1 – 7th June – 17th June (9 days)Course 2 – 20th June – 1st July (10 days)Course 3 – 4th July – 15th July (10 days)Course 4 – 18th July – 29th July (10 days)Course 5 – 2nd August – 12th August (9 days)Courses will be offered in start sailing, basic skills, improving skills, advanced boat handling, start racing, kites and wires, team racing, adventure and advanced racing.Courses will be run in Optimists, Toppers, Lasers, Fevas, 29ers and the club Wayfarers and Ventures.  The club has a small number of boats for charter for members who want to try out a different boat over the summer. Courses this year will be restored to the full day, from 9am-5pm.  Lots more time learning on the water, social time with friends during lunch and great for working parents!  If your Junior Sailors like it, you can book more than one course – depending upon demand.Work is underway by the Committee to improve the Summer offering – from coaching standards to shore management to pricing to interclub, fun racing and lots more.The opening of course registration and other updates will be announced later.

Welcoming our new Catering Manager

As we await today for the next Government announcement regarding guidelines to re-opening hospitality, spare a moment to consider the various options we have here in the National Yacht Club.

We would like to give members the opportunity to avail of a range of dining options including smaller private dining rooms for those long awaited friends and family reunions, postponed milestone occasions or the much looked forward to “catch-up”.
