NYC Optimist Development Programme – Spring 2022

The Optimist Development programme is aimed at sailors who aim to compete in events and other competitions in 2022.  We believe there is demand for a performance group and a development group.  The performance group will consist of already experienced sailors who have competition experience, but did not meet the IODAI rankings in 2021 and qualify for the DOGS Winter training, and also the sailors moving from regatta fleet to main fleet in 2022 competitions.

Adult Spring Laser Coaching Sessions – Saturday Mornings

The NYC is staging Laser coaching for adults of all ability (from new or returning to Laser sailing to experienced sailors) on Saturday mornings from 10:00 to 13:00 for 6 weeks: From Saturday 5th February until Saturday 12th March

€120 for the 6 weeks sailing or €20 per individual session. Each Session is limited to 14 participants on a 1st come 1st served basis. The coach is James Delaney

Note: You must have your own boat and be a member of the National Yacht Club to register!

Irish Sailing Covid 19 Updated guidelines – 24 January 2022

On Friday January 21st 2022 the Government made an announcement in relation to changes in Public Health Measures. 

The full announcement can be accessed here: gov.ie – Government announces that most of the public health measures currently in place can be removed (www.gov.ie)

As set out in the announcement a large number of the public health measures currently in place can be removed. Key items in relation to Irish Sailing Club and Training Centre activity are as follows:

  1. Formal requirements for physical distancing (2m) removed
  2. 8pm closing time for sporting events and hospitality removed
  3. Capacity restrictions for outdoor sporting events removed
  4. Capacity restrictions for indoor sporting events removed
  5. Use of pods for indoor sporting activities removed
  6. Use of a COVID pass to access indoor events removed

Hospitality restrictions lifted

Following on from this evenings government announcement, we are delighted to be able to return to normal service hours in the Clubhouse from tomorrow Saturday 22nd January. Bar stools will be back in place and there will no longer be a requirement to show certificates on entry or wear a mask. Hand Sanitisers will remain in place on entry.  We would like to thank all our members for their support over the last two years and we look forward to an exciting year ahead.
