SB20 National Championships at the NYC

The National Yacht Club is delighted to host the SB20 Irish National Championships on Friday, Saturday and Sunday 5th, 6th and 7th August 2016.

MOD 70 Team Phaedo 3 Round Ireland Record Attempt

Following on the incredibly tight race between the 3 MOD 70s entered in the Wicklow SC Round Ireland where Oman Sail broke its own Round Ireland Record (as well as the other 2 boats), Team Phaedo 3 is back!

Taking their start today based on a favourable weather window (see here) allowing them to go round anti-clockwise, Team Phaedo 3 hopes to break the current record of 38 hours, 37 minutes and 7 seconds!

NYC Ladies Squads success at Cork Week

Our NYC Ladies Squad were invited to Cork Week this year as part of the Try Sailing/Women on the Water initiative and we rose to the challenge. RCYC provided us with a 1720 and a warm welcome!

Lots of fun was had with great racing in Cork Harbour, staying on site in camper vans, delicious local seafood, fantastic onshore entertainment with music and fireworks and even dolphins to escort us in on the last day. We also won our first trophy coming second in our class!

 

 

 

 

 

 

NYC David Gorman & Chris Doorly Defend Flying Fifteen Title at Cushendall

Congratulations to David Gorman & Chris Doorly who successfuly defended their Irish Flying Fifteen Title after three days of competition at Cushendall SC in County Antrim. Three race wins from six sailed gave Dave and Chris a clear lead in a fleet of 21. Second were club mates Ian Mathews and Keith Poole with Strangford Lough’s Hammy Baker and Charlie Horder third. Laser Leinsters Results and Prize Giving

We had 130 entries in the Laser Leinsters last week-end and, thanks to the use of the Carlisle Pier facilities and the kind permission to pass through the RNLI station, the event went superbly on and off the water!
