ICRA Annual Conference and AGM Saturday 5th March 10:00 to 13:00 in NYC – join in person or online

Headline speakers at the event include,

Thomas Kneen (Owner Sunrise) – we are delighted to have Thomas join us to talk about his very succesul and somewhat controversial 2021 sailing compaign in his yacht Sunrise, which won the Fastnet and just missed out on the Middle Sea race in controversial circustnaces.

Jason Smithwick (Director of Rating, RORC) – a presentation from the Director of Rating at RORC, where he will give us on update on IRC ratings, and answer all your questions!

As well as the main speakers, the event will include the sailors forum (where you have your chance to discuss and debate the big issues in our sport), updates from the major events planned in the year, an update of ICRA activities, and will be followed by the AGM.

NYC Sailing Awards Prize Giving Dinner

In one of the highlights of the club year, the National Yacht Club awarded thirteen annual awards for outstanding sailing achievements.

The awards, as well as the Commodore’s Cup, were presented at the NYC annual Sailing Awards Dinner last Saturday

Remember the phrase “you get out of it what you put in”. We all joined the NYC for slightly different reasons be it to go sailing, racing or cruising, to bring sailing to our children, to meet new people and have fun. The best way to do this is to get involved!

IS Local Umpire Course – March 22 – Zoom

Date: Monday 28th and Wednesday 30th March 2022
Time: 18.00 to 21.00 hours both evenings

This course is for anyone interested in improving their umpire skills. Both Match and Team Racing use a system of umpiring, in which penalties are imposed during the race, avoiding, for the most part, the need for conventional protests.

It is delivered by International Umpires Chris Lindsay and Cxema Pico.

Minimum age 16yrs. Costs: €10pp

Any equipment necessary: Note taking materials.
The presentation will be available post-session.

IS Race Event Management Course

This will be delivered over zoom Thursday 10th of March, 6-9pm
No charge for attendance
Who is this for?
This is a great introductory course to all disciplines of Race Officials. This course explains the different disciplines, what they do in the run up to an event, during and after. It is an introduction into the wonderful world of Race Officers, Mark Layers, Equipment Inspectors, Measurers, Results Managers, Event Safety, Judges and Umpires.
Minimum age 16yrs.
Any equipment necessary: Note taking materials
