With just weeks to go to the start of summer racing at the country’s largest yacht racing club, Dublin Bay Sailing Club (DBSC) has unveiled some of its plans for the 2022 AIB DBSC racing programme, which will run from April 23 to October 1 and will include new Saturday courses.
The DBSC Flag Officers, Committee, and Racing Sub-Committee, have been working hard over the winter months on producing the enhanced racing programme.

Due to popular demand, we are organising 2 VHF Courses at a special discounted rate to our members with Irish Offshore Sailing.
The details are as follows:
Course 1:
2-night VHF course on 12/13th April 1800-2130hrs with exam on evening of 13th at 20.30.
Course 2:
on April 23rd 0930-1800hrs
Course Provider: Ronan O Siochru/ Irish Offshore Sailing. Max: 12 participants per course

Costs: €200 for NYC members
Ronan will be running a RYA VHF course for €200 which includes exam fee. Should anyone require MMSI sign off, Ronan will sort this out free of charge. For all other purposes, the RYA cert is valid.

ia Partners announced as new title sponsor of the Irish Sailing Women at the Helm
To mark International Women’s Day, Irish Sailing is delighted to announce that Sia Partners, the global consultancy, are coming on board to sponsor the successful Women at the Helm regatta.
Women at the Helm is an annual sailing regatta for dinghy and keelboat racing, but all boats are helmed (captained) by women. Now in its third year, the event will take place on Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 August 2022 at the National Yacht Club.
Calling all dinghy, stand up paddle (SUP), kayak, rowing and small powerboat owners to a ‘Splash For Ukraine’ in Dun Laoghaire Harbour this Saturday 12th March at 1 pm in aid of the Ukrainian humanitarian crisis. Meet on the water at 1 pm by the bandstand on the east pier and sail/motor/paddle counter-clockwise around the harbour. Dinghies and powerboats are invited to do two laps, while SUPs, kayaks and rowing boats can do one.
We would ask that attendees donate what they can to the Irish Red Cross Ukrainian Crisis Appeal via this link https://donate.redcross.ie/ or via Revolut. We would also ask that everyone wear yellow and blue and if they have one, fly the Ukrainian flag from their craft or person.
The Dun Laoghaire Motor Yacht Club has announced a ‘Pop Up’ dinghy race for the Public Holiday on March 18th, in place of the weather-related, lost races in the club’s Viking Marine Frostbite Series since Christmas.
The races will not count in the series results, but DMYC race mugs will be presented to daily winners.
The “Snakes Alive” Open Event will be held in the Harbour and details can be found here.
The race is free to registered entrants, non-frostbite entrants are encouraged to make a donation to RNLI, prior to participation.
