Spring Coaching 2016

The Winter holidays are over, time to get sailing fit for those lovely warm summer months of messing about in boats ahead in 2016!

 

Please note the dates vary a little between the groups.

Non Trial Optimists: 31/1, 7/2, 28/2, 6/2, 13/3, 20/3 (6 Sundays – €120)

Toppers, Lasers & Fevas: 31/1, 14/2, 21/2 28/2, 6/2, 13/3, 20/3 (7 Sundays – €140)

Get Finn to RIO

Finn Lynch, one of the best sailing talents to come out of Ireland ever, stands on the cusp of qualification to represent Ireland at the Rio Olympic Games in a few months time. He has 2 more qualification events, Palma in March, and Mexico in May.

His training is right on schedule, in spite of dislocating his shoulder late last year, but it is his funding which currently poses his greatest challenge. Read the full post to see how to help Finn reach his full potential…

NYC Boathouse takes delivery of 9 sea-kayaks

Following the very positive feedback and great usage of the Club’s paddle-boards, the N.Y.C., thanks to the support of the Sport Capital Grant 2015 programme, has decided to carry-on diversifying its water sports activities and has just taken delivery of 9 RTM Ocean Duo sea-kayaks. The RTM Ocean Duos can easily take 2 adults or even 3 people “on deck” with a child in the middle or 3 teenagers…

NYC Sunday Walk 7th February

Next Sunday’s walk (7th Feb.) is a circuit of the inside perimeter of UCD with a coffee break in the Swimming Pool Complex, about half way (No need to bring a picnic).

This is a mainly flat, gritted pathway of about 6.5kms which, with an half hour break, should have us back at the cars well before 5pm. Stout walking shoes should suffice.

Time:- Meet at 1.50pm for a prompt 2pm start.

Directions:- Travelling south on the N11 turn right at Fosters Avenue opposite the Radisson Hotel (St Thomas Church on corner). A short distance later turn into the UCD Nova entrance on RHS.

 

Junior Summer Courses 2017 – Dates / Plans

The summer course dates for our two week ISA sailing courses in 2017 are as follows:
Course 1: Tues 6th – Fri 16th June
Course 2: Mon 19th – Fri 30th June
Course 3: 10- 21st July
Course 4: 24th July – 4th Aug
Course 5: 7-18th Aug

We will update around Easter time with specific clinics but we hope to run the full suite of ISA levels over each two week course (Start Sailing, Basic Skills, Improving Skills, Racing, Advanced Boat handling, Adventure, Kites and Wires)

NEW! : This year, we will also be offering a teenage introductory course in Course 1 or 2  where you will learn to sail with other teenagers in the ventures, wayfarers or 1720s.  This is ideal for new members or older siblings of some of our young sailors.

Please note there will not be any sailing course on the first week in July as the Volvo Dun Laoghaire week is July 6-9th

REGISTRATION WILL NOT BE OPEN UNTIL FEBRUARY
