Nell Staunton ISAFS July 2018

Best of luck to Irish Sailing Academy Laser sailor and NYC member Nell Staunton who with Jack Fahy RSTGYC (pictured here with their coach Sean Evans), have arrived in Corpus Christi, Texas for the Youth Sailing World Championships, ISAF, starting on Saturday 14 July. Nell is representing Ireland and NYC in the Laser Radial class at this most important junior sailing championship. Best of Luck to the IODAI IDT French Team with NYC sailors Clementine van Steenberge and Fiachra Mc Donnell. Team Ireland (Clementine, Fiachra, Jessica, Archie, Ben, Patrick and George) and Coach Dara O’Shea with Team Mum Yvonne Durcan,  are travelling to Carcans , Maubuisson, for the French Internationals CIE Coupe Internationale  D’Ete!

We wish them the very best of luck at the event.

Interport 2018 Ruffian 23 Team Racing Challenge Ireland versus Hong Kong

The 6th Interport Ruffian 23 challenge between Ireland and Hong Kong took place in Dun Laoghaire last weekend.

The 12-strong team of Ruffian sailors from RHKYC arrived in Dun Laoghaire on Thursday evening and joined the Irish sailors for post-DBSC racing drinks in the RStGYC.

The 1st Interport Ruffian challenge took place in 1993 in Hong Kong with the Hong Kong Ruffian sailors coming to Dun Laoghaire the following year. The challenge was revitalised in 2009 when an Irish contingent travelled to Hong Kong.
Since then the event has occurred every 3 years with the Irish team travelling to Hong Kong again in
2015, and the Hong Kong team coming to Dun Laoghaire in 2012 and again this year.

Update on the under 19s at the Warnermunder Europa cup in Germany

Congratulations to Clare Gorman on coming first girl overall under 19 at the recent Warnermunder Europa cup in Germany.  Congratulations also to Nell Staunton who was runner up in the same category.  Both girls are on the Irish Sailing laser Radial Academy.

Adult Sail Training – Registrations for course 2 now open!

The NYC is running Adult Sail Training courses for all levels (newcomers, rusty sailors, improvers…) starting on Monday 23rd July or Wednesday 25th.

You can choose to either attend the Monday or Wednesday evening classes running for 6 weeks from 18:30 to 21:00
The costs are €260 for non-members and €180 for members.

The courses will use 1720 Sportboats,  RS Ventures and Wayfarers. On the water sessions will be weather permitting.

Courses will be run under the ISA Small Boat Sailing Scheme by fully qualified ISA instructors.
