Junior Regatta 2016 – Report

A beautiful sunny morning on July 6th herald the start of the NYC 2016 Junior Regatta.  In total there were 138 junior sailors entered in the event.

There was a  BBQ after the race for competitors  in the National Yacht Club, followed by prize giving, and later on a Junior Disco.  All had a great day and were looking forward to next years event.

NYC Members heading to Optimist European Championships, Crotone, Italy

National Yacht Club members Leah Rickard, Fiona Ferguson, Conor Gorman and Hugh Turvey pictured yesterday 11th July at Dublin Airport on their way to Crotone, Southern Italy for the Optimist European Championships.

They are part of an 8 strong Irish Team. The event starts on Friday 15th July and will run for a week. Up to 250 sailors from around the world are expected to participate

NYC Nippers 2016

NYC Nippers 2016 – A fun way to dip your toe into sailing for children aged 6-8

This year’s NYC Nippers course welcomed the largest group of eager children than ever before to our club. Over six weeks in May and June, our adventurous 6-8 year olds bravely dipped their toe into sailing, many of them for the first time.

NYC Junior Regatta – Results

Thanks to all the participants in our Junior Regatta yesterday. We had a great number of entries (130 in total)

We hope that all had a great time and reached their individual goals!

Optimist Events

Don’t forget to enter the Crosbie Cup!

“WARNING” Crosbie Cup at LRYC Athlone, only a week left before entries close!

The Crosbie Cup promises to be a great weekend for sailors and their families.

The event is open to the following:

– All Regatta Fleet sailors

– All Silver Senior sailors

– All Silver Junior sailors

The Crosbie Cup takes place from July 16th & 17th at Lough Ree Yacht Club, Ballyglass, Coosan, Athlone, Co Westmeath.

The Final Closing Date has been extended to Wednesday 13th July.

Optimist Ulster Report

The Optimist Ulsters took place in the Malahide Yacht Club Broadmeadows on Saturday 2nd July and Sunday 3rd July.

20 young sailors from the NYC took part in this event.

Conor Gorman, Leah Rickard, Nathan Van Steenberge, Hugh O’Connor, Eoghan Turner, Hugh Turvey, Louis Marie Jullo and Ellen Madigan entered Senior Fleet.

Clementine Van Steenberge, Clodagh Malone, Ella Dempsey, Luke Turvey, Zoe Hall, Sophie Gorman, Sam Ledoux and Rachel Flood entered Junior Fleet.

Benjamin Reeser, Conor Staunton, Edward Dempsey and Pierce Malone entered Regatta Fleet.
