Royal Cork’s Nick Walsh Crowned Laser Master Champion at the NYC

Royal Cork’s Nick Walsh was the winner of the Irish Laser Master Championships at the Club at the weekend. The Crosshaven man beat local Dublin Bay Sailing Club’s Dan O’Connell on the tie break rule after both sailors finished on the same net points of 14 after six races sailed.

NYC Rory Fitzpatrick wins HYC “Moth Flutter” event

Connachts Open for Entries Now

The Cois Sionna Credit Union Connachts are open for entries now. The next event this year is the Connachts, which are taking place in Foynes Yacht Club on June 11th and 12th.Regular Entry Fee is €60 and the closing date is Friday 27th May. (Late Entry Fee: €120 & final closing date is Wednesday 1st June)

Finn Lynch, Youngest Ever Irish Olympic Helmsman, Saluted by National Yacht Club

Finn Lynch (20), returned home from theLaser World Championships in Mexico last Friday to what he thought was a imple family dinner in the National Yacht Club…and got a hero’s welcome. The  clubhouse was packed to cheer the ground breaking achievemements that saw the U21 Laser world champion claim the single Rio berth ahead of London 2012’s James Espey of Belfast.

Finn Lynch youngest ever Irish sailing helmsman to qualify for the Olympic Games

At the Laser class world championships in Mexico last night, 20–year–old Finn Lynch’s Olympic dream came true when he won his place at the Rio games. The young NYC  sailor becomes the youngest ever Irish sailing helmsman to qualify for the Olympic Games!

“This is a particularly welcome result for Finn who has been on a promising trajectory since he first won silver for Ireland at Topper Worlds seven years ago,” commented James O’Callaghan, ISA Performance Director. “Winning the place for Rio is massive and the experience should serve to propel his career even further” The result moves Lynch overnight from ISA Development sailor to full senior Providence Team Ireland status.
