Eight Flying Fifteen Travel to Ballyholme for East Coast Championships – Report

Eight Flying Fifteens from the NYC  travelled to Ballyholme at the weekend for the first regional event of the season and it was also the first qualifying event for the World Championships that will be hosted by the NYC next year.

NYC Tom Dolan in ‘battle of the rookies’ in AG2R La Mondiale Transat challenge

NYC member Tom Dolan and French co-skipper Tanguy Bouroullec have locked horns with fellow newcomers Erwan La Draoulec and Loïs Berrehar as they battle it out for the title of first rookie in the Transat AG2R La Mondiale.

Dolan and Bouroullec’s Smurfit Kappa-Cerfrance was less than ten miles ahead of La Droulec and Berrehar’s Concarneau Entreprendre in the rankings on Friday.

But in reality the two boats were practically neck and neck, with Smurfit Kappa-Cerfrance positioned around 15 miles north of Concarneau Entreprendre…

Finn Lynch Eyes Top Ten at Sailing World Cup in Hyeres

NYC Olympic Laser sailor Finn Lynch continues to master further challenges in Hyeres as light winds dominated the third day of competition at the Sailing World Cup Series. The 22–year–old has moved up to 13th overall and is now only six points off the top ten overall in his 68–boat fleet.

Congratulations to Alan Green and Chris Doorly for winning the NYC F15 Frostbite 2017 Series!

The eagerly anticipated and hotly contested NYC F15 Frostbite series concluded last Saturday with 4 races counting as 2 mini series of 2 races each, a new format experimented with earlier in the series and extremely well received by the competitors.

The NYC would like to thank all the volunteers (committee boat personnel, mark layers) who ran this series and especially Ian Mathews who, for the fifth year in a row, gave up participating in the racing to endorse the role of Race Officer.
Many thanks are also due to John O’Gorman who very kindly provided his cruising boat ‘Hanse Off’ as Committee Boat for the series.

ISORA Celebrates 2017 Offshore at the National Yacht Club

240 ISORA competitors and guests attended the 2017 awards ceremony and dinner at the National Yacht Club in Dún Laoghaire on Saturday, and were treated to a champagne reception, followed by an outstanding four course meal devised and cooked by head chef Cormac Healy, served with fine wines and Jack Ryan “Beggars Bush” whisky to finish. ISORA chairman Peter Ryan kept the evening on track, with awards of both the perpetual trophies and Crystal glassware to the top three placed boats in all three fleets, plus prizes the individual results for all competitors in the 14 races series which started in April, and culminated in the season defining “James Eadie” 75 mile race from Pwllheli to Dún Laoghaire which this year decided the ISORA overall champion.
