A new Round Ireland Solo Record of 4 days, 1 hour, 53 minutes and 29 seconds was set this afternoon by Belgian, Michel Kleinjans in his Open 40 ‘Roaring Forty’. “Subject to official ratification by the ISAF/World Sailing Speed Record Council.”

Crossing the finish line at the Kish at 0414 on Fri 6th May 2005, skipper 7Jean Philippe Chomette and his 7 man crew brought the 60-footer in in 57 hours, 41 minutes taking a full 17 hours 46 minutes off the previous monohull record, set in 2002.
