Junior Training

TY Heir Island trip

Dear Parents and TY Sailors,

 

We are finalising plans for the trip down to Heir Island, and just wanted to give you an outline of the details of the trip.

Dates is Sunday September 24th (leaving Dun Laoghaire at approx. 11.30am) returning Friday 29th, and should arrive back in Dun Laoghaire approx. 9.30pm.  Cost: €450 

As places are limited to 24, they will be allocated on a first come first serve basis. The registration and booking form will go live on the RSGYC website at 3pm Friday 1st September. 

Junior Summer Courses

Where has the summer gone?  We can’t believe how time has flown by as we get ready to enter our final junior summer course.  Each course has been jam-packed with fun and excitement, and plenty of new friendships made. 

THERE ARE STILL SOME REMAINING SPACES ON COURSE 5 – 8TH – 18TH AUGUST, BUT PLACES ARE LIMITED PLEASE BOOK BEFORE FRIDAY 4TH AUGUST

Course 3: 10th July – 21st July
Course 4: 24th July – 4th August
Course 5: 8th August – 18th August

Optimist Main Fleet Group (OMG) Summer Training Programme

The programme is open to OMG Junior and Senior main fleet sailors who intend to participate in the Optimist regional events and the Nationals.
The training will be provided by both “8 Days a Week” (www.8daysaweek.be) and local coaches.
The programme started in May and runs through to August leading up to the Nationals and is split into two parts:

Laser Coaching Summer 2017 – Programme Announced

The NYC is organising special coaching sessions for our Junior Laser Sailors (4.7 & Radial rigs) to match the Class events calendar this Summer.

Pre-Leinster’s Open 420 training day – BOOKED OUT!

The National Yacht Club is organising a Pre-Leinsters 420 Training day on Thursday 6th July 2017.
Places are limited to 9 boats. Costs are €60 per boat. Read the full post to register

NYC Nippers 2017

A big shout out goes to the Dun Laoghaire fire brigade who provided the star attraction on the last night. Their visit to the NYC gave each Nipper a chance to take the wheel of a real fire engine and turns at sounding the (very loud!) sirens. Now that was an experience that will take some beating!

We hope that many of our 2017 Nippers will return next year to build on their sailing skills and rekindle the friendships they made over the last six weeks. Anyone interested in taking part in the Nippers 2018, look out for registration forms that will be posted in April 2018.
