National Yacht Club

The National Yacht Club Junior Section hosted their annual Junior Inter-club Regatta on Wednesday 14th July, sponsored by Davy. We had a beautiful sunny day with perfect wind for racing. There were 90 boats entered, with 109 sailors participating between the Harbour Fleet and the Main Fleet.

Mairéad Ní Chúlahan ran two fantastic trapezoid races for the Main Fleet of 50 boats in Scottsman’s Bay, while Ken Dumpleton ran three tremendous races for the 40 boat Harbour Fleet! We are extremely grateful to all of the volunteers that helped throughout the day, and especially Davy for their tremendous support. 

The National Yacht Club was delighted to host this regatta for its own sailors, as well as sailors from Bray Sailing Club, the DMYC, the RStGYC, and the RIYC. It was amazing seeing such excitement amongst the sailors from each club. The Regatta finished off with a prize giving, followed by a Teddy’s Ice Cream for all involved!

The Junior Section is looking forward to hosting our next Junior Regatta next summer.

 Entry Fee:
 – €15 for single-handed boats
 – €25 for 2-handed boats

Registration will take place on Wednesday 14th July 08:15 – 09:00 at the NYC Race Office. Competitors briefing 09:15

Launching for both fleets is scheduled to commence at 10:00hrs with the first warning signal for the Harbour Fleet at 10:45 and the Main Fleet at 11:15.

3 races are scheduled.

Increasing the visibility of women in sport is key. Over 600 clubs across Ireland have signed up and the NYC is thrilled to celebrate the longstanding achievements of its women members and to encourage more women to get involved in sailing at all levels.
