Dun Laoghaire 2 Dingle Race

One of the biggest events happens this Friday 12th June the start of the biennial Dun Laoghaire to Dingle Race

This edition will have 31 “hot” boats taking part, and as a member of the club, you have the opportunity to come down to view the boats on the pontoon, select your own favourite to follow, and also give them a good send off.

Round Ireland Record…all the pictures!

At 10h 55mn 54s this morning, Musandam Oman Sail crossed the finish line and established a new Round Ireland official record of 40h 51mns 57s shaving off 3h 50mns 23s from the previous record held by Lakota since 1993!

MOD70 Musandam Oman Sail sets sails to attempt Round Ireland Record this Monday 4th May

ETA  update (08:00 Wednesday morning) = 12:00…Deadline to beat record = 14:42…Margin for error = VERY SMALL

Following their aborted attempt back in March 2013, Musandam – Oman Sail, skippered by Sidney Gavignet is back with a crew of five this time in a bid to break the 20 year old Round Ireland record established by Lakota in 1993.

The current record is 1 day 20 hours 42 minutes and 20 seconds. The boat is expected crossed the start this Monday 4th May just after 18h00 and the hope is to shave off 10 hours from the previous record.

Proposed New Cruise Berth for Large Cruise Ships at Dun Laoghaire Harbour

Dun Laoghaire Harbour Company will be submitting a Planning Application to An Bord Pleanala for a new berth for large cruise ships towards the end of this month. Prior to submitting the Planning Application they are required to seek the views of harbour users.

4 NYC Nominees for Irish Sailing Awards 2014!

On 6 March, the ISA will be holding the presentation of the Irish Sailing Awards.  The National Yacht Club is delighted that 4 members are in the running for some of these prestigious awards!

These awards are presented to the person who, in the judges’ opinion, achieved the most notable results in, or made the most significant contribution to, Irish sailing during 2014. We wish them every success on Friday!
