The 2014 Laser Connachts were held in Lough Derg YC on June 28-9 in challenging light and shifty conditions.   NYC 4.7 Laser sailors dominated again with anotherNYC Winner and Runner-up. Nicole Hemeryck won the event with Daniel Raymond finishing second, a reversal of the Laser Nationals last August in Lough Ree where Daniel beat Nicole into second place!  There were 8 NYC Laser 4.7 sailors competing in the 36 boat fleet with 4 NYC sailors finishing in the top 10 (Rory Caslin was 5^th and Patrick Coyle 9^th). Nicole was also 1^st Lady once again. Many sailors found themselves on the wrong side of a wind shift in the extremely light conditions with little chance to make amends in often shortened races. Due to the sunny and calm conditions, only 3 races were completed of the scheduled 6 in winds varying from 1 – 8 knots. Despite this, ISA 4.7 squad members Nicole and Daniel and several other NYC sailors showed their light condition skills.

Full results can be found on the Irish Laser Website www.laser-ireland.com/results.html Next up is the Laser Leinsters to be held in WHSC in Dunmore East on the August Bank Holiday weekend (Aug 2-3) while the 4 ISA 4.7 squad members make preparations for the 4.7 Europeans in Norway at the end of July. We hope to hold further Laser pre-event training prior to the Leinsters and the Nationals (Ballyholme YC Aug 28-31). Further details will be posted on the NYC website.
