Larry Hynes challenges Round Ireland Record
Larry Hynes from Galway set off on Friday 17th June at 0730 hours from the West Pier Dun Laoghaire to challenge the current Single Handed Sailing Speed record set previously by Peter Keig from the UK of 7 Days, 10 Hours and 24 Minutes.
Larry sailed a 14.6metre Aluminium sloop ‘Killary Flyer’, to raise money for many charities including the Galway Hospice Foundation and the Galway Simon Community. Unfortunately Larry did not make the time set by Peter Keig. Everyone sends their congratulations on a tremendous effort and wishes him all the best in the future.
