The Laser Radial place at ISAFs this year was narrowly missed by Finn Lynch, NYC, in very close racing. Last years silver medalist still has another year left in this age category so he will be back for more! Robbie Gilmore, BYC, was the overall winner and will represent Ireland in Cyprus this summer. Sarah Cooney came 2nd girl in the Laser 4.7 fleet and 7th overall, showcasing her ability to sail in light and heavy winds.  Conor Kneafsey and Grainne Young enjoyed the breeze on the last day with good racing in difficult conditions. Nicole Hemeryck dominated in the Topper fleet and was well deserving in her overall win and First Lady prize in a large fleet.  She was very consistent throughout the event in varied weather conditions showing off her sailing skills. Other NYC sailors, Daniel Raymond and Evie Byrne, put in good performances which should secure their places on the Irish Topper Squad. Tom Shanahan, Conor Byrne, Iseult Kneafsey and first timers William Spain and Mark O’Connor all had good individual races. The Optimist Championship fleet had three entries from the NYC – Leah Rickard, Natasha Hemeryck and Hugh O’Connor. They all enjoyed the racing and the great playground in Dromineer in equal measure! Leah Rickard finished 4th – a great start to the year for her. There were  glorious days of sunshine which made this a very enjoyable end to the Easter holidays. Everyone caught up with all the sailors and parents they might not have seen since last season,so lots of fun was had!
