NYC Regatta 2016 – Commodore’s Report & Results

FacebooktwitterredditpinterestlinkedintumblrmailPicture2 Our 2016 Regatta which is the highlight of our Sailing Calendar, proved to be a most successful and enjoyable event both on and off the water. We had a record number of boat entries at 180, which was very encouraging considering we would have lost some boats and crew to the Round Ireland Race. We were blessed with the weather considering the Friday before and the very wet Sunday, and we had perfect sailing conditions for all courses. The feedback from the race courses was very positive and this was the first time that we ran two back to back races on Course A, and this format worked very well and was welcomed and praised by the sailors. The apres sailing was superb with the deck and bars packed and a great atmosphere all round and entertainment for both adults and children. We were also delighted to host the prize giving for the 1720 European Championships and the competitors stayed on relaxing and enjoying themselves until late into the night ! The evening finished with our Black Tie Mid Summer Ball which was in a full dining room with a wonderful dinner served. We were treated to some beautiful singing from our own NYC choir and I thank them for giving their time to entertain us. I very much appreciate that this Regatta could not have happened without the hard work, support and commitment of so many people. I would like to take this opportunity to thank both the Management and Staff of all sections in the Club for their time which they give and with such friendly good humour. This welcoming atmosphere is something very special that we have in our Club and is why we stand out from the rest. A special thanks to the many members who volunteer their time from the Race Office to the Race Management team without which support we could not run sailing events. It is a privilege for me as Commodore to be part of such an outstanding group of people, both staff and members that we have in our Club. Below are the results for each class (best viewed expanded into full screen):
