National Yacht Club

Last Saturday evening the Junior section gathered together for the annual dinner and prize giving which was a great success. This year a new format was adopted whereby the Juniors dinned upstairs and the parents had finger food downstairs. This allowed things to move a lot quicker and Cormac / Louise and their teams did a fantastic job running the event. As did the sailing instructors who ran “gutter boat races” upstairs. The prize table looked exceptionally well with the addition of five new trophies donated by the Ferguson, Cullen, Cooney, Lynch and Shanahan families. Prizes were given out for outstanding performance during the summer courses and in recognition to all the sailors who competed at regional, national and international level. But alas not everything went our way storm Clodagh blew violent storm force 11 winds on Sunday morning so yet again we had to cancel sailing. But their might have been one or two parents grateful for the lie in.
