  Last weekend Finn Lynch stepped back into a Topper, the boat in which he first displayed his considerable talent, to coach some NYC juniors just staring out in this boat. Finn and Sarah Cooney also a successful Topper sailor, taught the young sailors how to sail this competitive singlehanded and coached them on sailing fast. NYC sailors have been successful in the Topper Class for a number of years and with Finn’s help this latest group will continue to win honours for the club. Finn was just back from Spain where he was placed 5th in the European Laser Under 21 Championship. The previous week he achieved 4th place in the World Laser Under 21 Championship in Medemblik, two excellent consistent results with a race win in the gold fleet in Spain a particular highlight. Next up for Finn is first leg of Olympic trials in Rio in December. We wish him every success! The photo shows the extent of the sailing activity in Dun Laoghaire Harbour last Sunday with the Cruisers moored up on the pontoon following the Cruisers Challenge, the Toppers just coming in after their training immediately behind them, and more NYC juniors competing in the Elmo trophy team racing event just beyond and in the far distance even more juniors competing in the September Series.
