The 2014/15 transition year sailing at NYC will start with a 6 week  Laser Coaching block from Wed 17th September.  This year the overall programme will consist of 5 blocks, each with 6 x core coaching sessions, and optional extra activities such as First Aid, VHF, Rib training, Regatta etc.  Dates will broadly follow the school terms, with 2 blocks before Christmas, 2 blocks Jan to Easter and a final block after Easter.  The planned coaching themes are: single handed, double handed, team racing, keelboat, & other depending on group interest. Sailors can sign up for an individual block at a time.  The application form for the first block is now available. The plan is to have 6 x Laser race coaching sessions on Wednesday afternoons from 2pm  to 5:30.  Dates are:   17, 24 Sep and  1, 8, 15, 22 Oct.  The group will also participate in the NYC end of season Regatta, and complete a one day first aid course (Saturday date TBC). If you are interested in your sailor participating, please complete  the application form below.  The early booking cost for the block is €75 for all coaching sessions but excluding the extras –  First Aid course & Regatta entry fee are additional. Sailors must be transition year students and have their own boat (or have organised a suitable charter) to participate.  A sailing log will be completed by each sailor with their coach as a record of achievement for the block. To run the programme effectively, we are asking parents to volunteer to help co-ordinate one of the blocks during the year. We expect to  have 10 to 12 sailors participating, and 2 parent volunteers for each block. (please indicate the block number when you would be prepared to volunteer to help on the entry form).
