NYC Adult Sailing Courses
We believe sailing is a wonderful gift in life. If you wish for it to be a part of yours or to improve your existing skills to enjoy it more or to learn so as to enjoy the sport with your Junior Sailor(s) – NYC Adult Sail Training can provide the opportunity.
We are running Adult Sailing courses for members and non-members alike to cover the basics, more complex stuff and racing roles.

Courses:
Start Sailing – all the basics you need to be comfortable on a boat (no experience required).
Improve Sailing/Seamanship – the skills you need to be part of a team in medium conditions.
Advanced Sailing/Racing – the skills you need to execute racing roles (helm, trim, pit, foredeck) at a local level.
Dates:
Courses will be run over 4 half days at the weekends (9am-1pm, 2pm-5pm) or selected weekday evenings (5-9pm). Sailing is weather dependent – so sessions may need to be postponed.
Boats:
Courses will be run in J80s, a small, stable, fast and responsive, keelboat – best for the all round experience and a pathway to all yachts.
Instructors:
Instructors will be experienced members or coaches. NYC is an approved Irish Sailing Training Centre.
Accreditation:
Courses can be accredited to the Irish Sailing Small Boat programme and used in conjunction with the Irish Sailing Passport. www.sailing.ie
Cost:
€120 Euro for members.
€250 for non-members providing temporary membership of the club and tuition for the duration of the course.
Cost of the course will be discounted against new annual membership fees.
Structure:
Courses will be organised for any group of 4 adults with similar goals.
Enjoying the social element at the club before and afterwards will be encouraged.
A Whatsapp group will facilitate coordination, further learning, sailing and social opportunities within the club.
Gear:
Waterproof jacket & salopettes, Life jacket, Warm Layers, Hat, Non-marking runners or sailing boots, Gloves, a few thin cotton layers below a fleece and a smile.
