NYC Cup held on J80s on Friday June 18th

The National Yacht Club will hold its annual NYC Cup on June 18
th 2010. This is a great opportunity to get together a team of friends or colleagues to go racing in a feet of J80 pedigree racing yachts for the day at an extremely affordable price. The team can comprise non-sailors as each boat will be supplied with a competent skipper / crew member for the day
if required (Please let know the Sailing Manager well in advance at
sailing@archived.nyc.ie). The boats will be sailed with a team of 4 including the skipper.
It is intended to be a fun full day of racing for entertaining staff, friends or customers with the atmosphere and organisation of a full-on sailing event.
Crew members can be sailors and non-sailors. All they need to be is capable of getting on and off a boat and being comfortable with the idea of possibly getting a little wet – though it is not our intention for anyone to actually be in the water. Lifejackets or buoyancy aids will be compulsory and supplied for those without one.
The racing will be in a fleet of 8 – J80 sportsboats over a short distance course. The J80 is a high performance keelboat with a high stability ratio.
The NYC Cup is a perpetual trophy which will be presented to the winning team at a barbeque and prize giving event at a separate cost of €20 per person.
Life jackets will be provided to all who require them but competitors should bring warm clothes, a change of clothes, waterproofs and deck shoes or runners.
Cost for the day sailing per entry €250
