National Yacht Club

The Munster Championships were held in Tralee Bay Sailing Club on Saturday 6^th and Sunday 7^th September. Over 100 optimist sailors competed over the two days. 12 sailors, together with their families, travelled to the event from the NYC. 6 races were held over the 2 days in light-to-moderate wind conditions. The sun shone for most of the weekend. Dara Donnelly, Ella Hemeryck, Nicola Ferguson and Cliona Coyle sailed in the Senior fleet. Charlie Cullen, Luke Rickard, Fiona Ferguson, Jack Hall, Charlie McCarthy and Hugh O’Connor sailed in the Junior fleet. Georgia McCarthy and Zoe Hall sailed in the Regatta fleet. We had some wonderful results at this event. Dara Donnelly won the Senior Gold fleet taking home a wonderful trophy, and also taking the top spot in the end of season rankings for the Senior fleet. This is a great achievement. Charlie Cullen won 3^rd place in the Junior Gold fleet, Cliona Coyle won 2^nd place in the Senior Silver fleet, and Fiona Ferguson won 4^th place in the Junior Silver fleet. Georgia McCarthy came 3^rd in the Regatta fleet. All of our sailors sailed really well over the 2 days and represented our Club perfectly at the event. Full results may be found on the Iodai website.
