The new dynamic Mike Nielsen Band features the leader on guitar, Greg Felton, piano, Derek Whyte, El. Bass and James Mackin on drums. The material is mostly original with some arrangements of well-known jazz and pop standards. Equally innovative on electric and acoustic guitars this versatile performer has toured internationally with Dave Liebman with whom he has recorded twice. He has also performed with Joe Lovano, Larry Coryell, Kenny Werner, Kenny Wheeler, Richie Beirach, NHØP among others. Solo performances include opening for Elvin Jones at the ESB Dublin Jazz Festival and a double bill with the legendary guitarist John McLaughlin during his first visit to Dublin, 2008.
