Junior Prize Giving 2013
We then all squeezed into the Dining Room for the Prize Giving. This year we were able to extend our prizes somewhat to include a larger number of sailors who performed well in various ways both during the summer and throughout the year. We also were able to acknowledge a number of Juniors who had volunteered both their time and expertise in teaching the Nippers and in assisting with the Access sailing Programme.
The major award winners for outstanding performances in competitive sailing were as follows:
Junior Fleet Optimist
Clare Gorman – Top ranked sailor in the country and one to watch during the Opi Europeans. 1st in Nationals and Ulsters
Ella Hemeyck -close behind 5th in rankings and 2
nd girl. Came 2nd in Nationals
Senior Fleet Optimist
Loghlen Rickard – came 8
th in the Nationals – 3
rd Irish sailor
Dara Donnelly coming in the teens, in the Nationals and Ulsters
Toppers – all about 2nds
Nicole Hemeryck – 2
nd in British Nationals
Daniel Raymond – 2
nd Nationals

Sean & Tadg Donnelly participated in the ISAFS for the second year running!
Following the Prize Giving the Juniors headed downstairs for the disco while the parents were fed, extremely well, in the dining room!! We had our highest numbers ever attending, at least 30 of our instructors from the summer, over 70 Juniors and almost the same amount of parents. A particular thanks is due to Sarah Byrne and Rebecca Hall for organising the prizes and Olivier and Susan Spain for putting together a wonderful slide show of the year in sailing.
