Annalise Takes Bronze at Skandia Sail for Gold 2012 in Weymouth
National YC laser radial sailor, Annalise Murphy sailed a perfect medal race this morning on the Portland Harbour course, comfortably taking the gun and winning the bronze medal in the process at the 2012 Skandia Sail For Gold Regatta.
Having sailed eight races during the week, she was lying 5th overall going into the medal race and needed to win to have any chance of getting a podium position. This she did in style, leading 10 of the worlds top women sailors at the 1st mark by 5 boat lengths and going to win the windward leeward 2 lap race by 80 m in the 20kt breeze.
This win a great boost to her confidence coming just 7 weeks before the London Olympics at the same venue.
