NYC sailors in Inter Schools 2014
On Saturday 27th & Sunday 28th of September 2014 school sailors from around the country gathered in beautiful but difficult light wind conditions to compete to an extremely high standard in the 39th All-Ireland Inter-Schools Sailing Event in Sutton Dinghy Club. NYC sailors Ella Hemeryck & Luke Rickard placed first and second overall in the Optimist Class. The Team Optimist Prize was won by Belvedere College.
The results for the NYC sailors in the mixed fleet were also great with Conor Byrne, Patrick Coyle and Mark O’Connor finishing 3rd, 6th and 19th overall in their Laser Radials, and Dara Donnelly (with Rosemary Tyrrell) and Cliona Coyle (with Isobelle O’Boyle) placing 7th and 14th in their Fevas. The mixed fleet team prize went to Robert Dickson and Loughlin O’Shea in a Mirror.
All in all it was fabulous racing and a lot of fun was had, Well done to all our NYC sailors!
