National Yacht Club

The NYC Junior Regatta was held in perfect conditions, sun and wind, on Wednesday last. Under the careful tutelage of race officer Alan Dooley the youngest sailors raced in their first competitive regatta sailing four races just in front of the club house. Outside the harbor we were delighted to welcome the New Zealand Optimist team who incorporated the regatta into their race training for the European Optimist Championships being held at RStGYC this week. International Race Officer Con Murphy and his team organized three excellent races in typical Dublin Bay conditions after which the sailors returned to the club for an inspiring talk by NYC member Louise Cole who sailed a 470 for Ireland at the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta Georgia. The day was concluded by a fun junior disco hugely enjoyed by the sailors while their parents enjoyed a  balmy summer evening supper at a large table on the balcony.
